Implicit Association

When i took my implicit association test i was to determine if i was prejudiced against gays or straights. I took this one because i feel very strongly i have no prejudice about gays, i have several gay friends. However, my test scores surprised me in the sense that i in fact was prejudiced. I feel like that test was inaccurate because i dont understand how putting words to one side or the other can determine if you are prejudiced. Apparently i am though, weather that test is wrong or right i won't know. I just wanted to share how shocked i was to reveal my results.

  2. Ya... I agree. I think that it is biased in a way and corrupted to get the results that they want to give you the shock factor. I took the racial biased test, as connor did, and it also said that I favored whites over blacks. That really shocked me because I am certainly not racist. Then, when I took the gay vs. straight test, it told me that I was impartial and didn't favor either or. This actually surprised me even more. I don't agree with the gay way of life and thought that I would get the results that I strongly favor straight. I'm not saying that I dislike gay people, I just don't agree with what they do (what can I say, I'm religious). So, both times I got exactly the opposite of what I put into the box that asked what I though my results would be. I would have to do more tests, but I find this rather corrupted.

  3. I do think the tests may have been a bit...biased. Why else would it ask questions about our race etc. in the beginning? On the other hand, I do realize that our subconcious minds have more to say than we may have thought. My test was odd. It compared New to Old and said I had a strong preference to new, when really, I don't own anything new! No cable, internet, nothing all that modern besides my Blackberry. So yes, I agree, I'm not sure if these tests really prove anything.
